Jeep Range

Wrangler's 4WD system is the legendary, easy to use, shift-on-the-fly Command-TracTM.

To engage 4WD on Wrangler you just shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H at speeds up to 55 mph. And there's no need to stop to lock hubs or slow down to engage and disengage 4WD High.

In addition, a stiff four-sided tubular frame, solid front axle, underbody skid plates, and an optional heavy-duty suspension ensures Wrangler's ability to tame the toughest terrain.

Wrangler's Fog Lamp and Tow Hook Group (two front, one rear) and its Quadra-Coil® suspension with gas-charged shock absorbers turn obstacles into mere annoyances. And the standard underbody skid plates for the fuel tank and transfer case allow Wrangler to take on even the rockiest trail without damage to its vital organs.

The original Willys MB was powered by the Go Devil engine and was chosen by the U.S. Army for its superior power and torque. Wrangler's two available Power Tech engines continue this tradition with the power and torque you need both for highway and the trail. And Wrangler's ride, both on-road and off, has never been better thanks to its exclusive Quadra-Coil TM Suspension.

The 4.0L Power Tech I-6 engine, standard on Sport and Sahara, is one of the most powerful engines in its class with 190 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a standard five-speed manual or an optional three-speed automatic transmission. Torque-heavy in the low and middle ranges (a necessity in severe off-road trail conditions), the engine also offers good fuel economy. (16mpg city/19mpg highway)

Wrangler's 2.5L Power Tech I-4 engine, standard on SE, peaks at a more-than-respectable 120 horsepower and has 140 pound-feet of torque, and offers good fuel economy. (19mpg city/20mpg highway). The incredible articulation of Wrangler's Quadra-Coil TM suspension helps keep all four of its wheels on the ground in rocky terrain. Front and rear solid axles combine with a rugged network of coil springs and locating arms.

Front and rear stabilizer and track bars help ensure excellent cornering, minimize body lean, and contribute to outstanding ride and handling. To give you an edge in avoiding unexpected obstacles, Wrangler's available four-wheel antilock brakes (ABS) work in both 2WD and 4WD.
